I've only been using Critters.org for a couple of days now and I've already been made to feel like the amateur I am (in a good way, at least I learned from it).
This is what I "thought" was incorrect:
"I'm not an alien," she said.
I thought it should look like:
"I'm not an alien." She said.
As soon as this was pointed out to me I (naive as I was) didn't believe it and immediately opened a Stephen King novel to confirm. Then I opened an Anne Rice novel, then a Stephanie Meyer novel. Yep, it was there in all of 'em. How did I miss that?
Thank you Lauren for providing this link that lays out the rules of punctuation in dialogue.
Somehow I missed this lesson along the way and have been punctuating my dialogue incorrectly ever since. Time to go back and fix it. *groans*
